We believe God calls us to be part of the community He entrusted to us.
“We will be a healthy, growing church”
We will love God as He reveals Himself through Scripture and creation, love His people, and love those who need to find Jesus.
“We seek meaningful relationships”
We believe God will use the people of Redding Christian Fellowship to reach neighbors and nations.
“We sacrifice our preferences to make it easier for others to find Jesus”
We will engage today’s culture so everyone can experience the gospel in a way they understand.
“We value all generations”
Using our resources, wisdom, and experience, we will be a church where older generations encourage younger generations to follow Jesus.
Declaration of Faith
The Word of God
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
Psalm 119:89, 142, 151, 160; Isaiah 40:8; Mark 13:31; Luke 16:17; II Timothy 3:16 ; II Peter 1:20-21
The Trinity
We believe there is one living and true God, eternally existing in one essence and in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Each is equal in divine perfection, and yet each remains distinct in relation to the other two Persons.
Genesis 1:1-2; Psalm 110:1; Isaiah 44:6; Matthew 28:19, John 1:1-3; I Corinthians 12:4-6; II Corinthians 13:14; I Thessalonians 1:1-5
God the Father
We believe in God the Father Who is infinite, personal, and perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He foreknows all that shall come to pass, that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of humanity, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
Matthew 6:9, 23:9; Luke 10:21,22; John 3:16, 5:37; Romans 8:15; I Peter 1:3; Revelation 1:6
God the Son
We believe that God, the only begotten Son, became incarnate in Jesus of Nazareth Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin, Mary. We believe that Jesus is the Christ, at once fully divine and fully human. We believe in His sinless life, miracles, and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return.
Matthew 1:18-25, 20:28; Luke 1:26-38; John 1:1,14, 20:30-31; Acts 1:11; Romans 5:6-8; 6:9,10; II Corinthians 5:20-21; Hebrews 7:25; 9:28; I Timothy 2:5, 3:16; I Peter 2:21-23
God the Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is our abiding, personal Helper, Teacher, Comforter and Guide.
John 14:16,17,26; 15:26,27; John 16:9-14; Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 3:16; 6:19; 12:13; Galatians 5:22-26; Ephesians 1:13-14; 5:18
Regeneration
We believe that humankind was created by God in His own image. We believe that all have sinned and thereby have incurred physical, spiritual and eternal death, which is separation from God. We believe that as a consequence, all human beings are born with a sinful nature and are sinners by choice and therefore under righteous condemnation. We believe that those who confess their sin, repent, and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, are regenerated by the Holy Spirit, made new creatures in Christ, delivered from condemnation, and are granted eternal life.
Genesis. 1:26, 2:17, 3, 5:2; Psalm 51:5; Proverbs 28:13; Jeremiah 17:9; John 1:12-13, 3:16; 5:24, 8:12; Romans 3:10-23; 5:19; 8:1; II Corinthians 5:17; II Thessalonians 1:9; Titus 3:4-8; James 1:14; I John 1:9; Revelation19:3,20:10,14,15.
The Church
We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, work, and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of making disciples of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8, 2:42; Ephesians 2:19-22, 4:11-16, 5:19-21; Colossians 1:18; Hebrews 10:23-25
Christian Conduct
We believe that Christ followers should glorify God by fearing the Lord, loving God foremost and loving others as ourselves, serving God not mammon, and obeying the commandments of God.
Exodus 20:1-18; Psalm 119, Proverbs 1:7; Matthew 6:24; 22:37-39; II John 1:6
The Ordinances
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of the believer in water into the name of the triune God. We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death and return. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 22:14-20; Romans 6:3-5; I Corinthians 11:23-26
Religious Liberty
We believe that every believer has a direct relationship with God and is ultimately responsible to God alone. Redding Christian Fellowship is independent and is to be free from any unwarranted interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority.
Romans 14:1-23; I Timothy 2:5
Church Cooperation
While Redding Christian Fellowship stands as an autonomous, independent congregation with no denominational affiliations, we cooperate with other congregations or organizations who likewise seek to promote the cause of Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 4:1-16
The Last Things
We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to establish His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal blissfulness of the righteous and the endless suffering of the wicked.
